The “Itsy Bitsy” Spiders
You won’t see these darling little creepy critters crawling up the water spout! Your grandkids will love them, and after scaring Grandma for a good belly laugh, will be gobbling them up! But the best part is the fun you’ll have making them. An easy and fast creative thing to do with your little funsters, these Spider Pretzels are a great project for ages 3 and up! If you’re looking for an ideal, crafty idea for a quick week-end get away, these little arachnids have very few ingredients to assemble that don’t take up much room. They can be a wee bit messy but nothing a plastic disposable tablecloth and wet wipes can’t handle!
SPIDER PRETZELS
For Each:
2 round crackers
2 teaspoons creamy peanut butter
8 small pretzel sticks
2 raisins
Make a cracker sandwich with the peanut butter. Insert the pretzel “legs” into the filling. With a dab of peanut butter, set raisin eyes on top. Makes one.
Spider Pretzels also have great creative potential.
- If you don’t want to use Peanut Butter or have someone with peanut allergies, no worries. You can substitute Nutella, Chocolate Icing or any flavor of your choice, Marshmallow Cream, Cheese Spread, Tuna or Chicken Salad or let your imagination go wild.
- This recipe calls for round buttery crackers like Ritz, but simple round cookie wafers work just as well for a little sweeter treat.
- Stick pretzels work great for the legs, but you could also use red or black string licorice, although they may be a little wobble to walk on.
- For the eyes, use raisins stuck to the top cracker with peanut butter, icing or the other filling of your choice. You can also get creative and use candy.
